While attending Royal Roads University Shaun took every opportunity to create his own experience fast. He was appointed president of ACE-Royal Roads, and tasked to turn this newly formed Not-For-Profit organization into a nationally recognized program. In less than 7 months ACE-RRU had 7 executives and 60 volunteers operating in divisions focused on consulting, venture start up, educational speaking, community development, global development, and sustainability. Shaun led the organization to a 2 place finish in the SIFE Western Regional Entrepreneurial Topic competition in Calgary with one judge quoting “That was the best presentation I have ever seen.” It is unheard of for a start up chapter to even make it past the first round of a national competition. During the SIFE National Exposition in Toronto ACE-RRU tied for 5th out of 44 teams, receiving one of, if not, the highest score ever for a start up chapter.
During 2007 Shaun was nominated for Canadian Student Leader of the year, awarded the best start up chapter in Canada and received the Eric C Douglas scholarship 'in recognition of having best presented the spirit of entrepreneurship with a philanthropic nature.'
All of this was accomplished while completed a condensed 11 month degree program.
